EU Commission proposes Cyber Solidarity Act to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities

On April 18, 2023, the European Commission proposed the EU Cyber Solidarity Act to strengthen cybersecurity capacities in the EU. The act aims to support the detection and awareness of cybersecurity threats, bolster preparedness of critical entities, and reinforce solidarity and crisis management capabilities across Member States. Additionally, the Commission presented the Cybersecurity Skills Academy, which will make various cybersecurity initiatives available on an online platform to increase the number of skilled cybersecurity professionals in the EU. Finally, the Commission proposed an amendment to the Cybersecurity Act to enable the future adoption of European certification schemes for managed security services. The goal of these measures is to create a safe and secure digital landscape for citizens and businesses and to protect critical entities and essential services.
