BOFIT forecasts China’s GDP growth to reach around 6% in 2023, supported by the reopening of the economy and recovery of the real estate sector. However, the factors limiting growth, such as a shrinking labor force, aging population, and high debt levels, still remain. Real estate investments are not expected to be a reliable source of growth as in the past, which could restrain consumer demand growth. BOFIT expects growth to slow down to around 3% by 2025.
