Finland’s general government deficit was 0.9% of the GDP in 2022, and its debt was 73% of the GDP, according to preliminary data reported by Statistics Finland. General government debt grew by EUR 12.8 billion, while the financial position of the general government improved by around EUR 4.5 billion from the previous year. Central government’s deficit improved the most, mainly due to the growth in tax revenue. The surplus of social security funds also increased to EUR 2.8 billion in 2022 due to a growth in social security contributions received.
