Nine North Sea Countries Aim to Generate 300 GW of Offshore Wind Power by 2050

Nine North Sea countries, including Germany, Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, and Norway, have set a target to generate 120 GW of electricity by offshore wind turbines by 2030 and at least 300 GW by 2050. The second North Sea summit held in Ostend, Belgium, aimed to develop the North Sea as Europe’s green power plant and contribute to climate neutrality and energy security. The leaders plan to coordinate their efforts to install an offshore power grid and develop offshore wind energy to drive a green European economy. Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz emphasized that the North Sea is an energy powerhouse right on their doorstep.
