Consumer prices in France rise 5.9% YoY in April 2023

Consumer prices in France increased by 5.9% year-on-year in April 2023, according to provisional estimates. This rise in inflation is expected to be driven by an acceleration in energy and services prices, as well as tobacco, while food prices are expected to slow down. Over one month, consumer prices are expected to increase by 0.6% in April 2023, due to a decline in energy and fresh food prices, while the prices of services are expected to accelerate. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices is also expected to rise by 6.9% year-on-year in April 2023.
