Finland and US Sign MoU to Boost Cooperation in Nuclear Energy and Waste Management

Finland and the United States have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to intensify cooperation in nuclear energy and nuclear waste management. The MoU was signed by the Director General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Riku Huttunen, and the Assistant Secretary for the US Office of Nuclear Energy, Kathryn Huff, in Washington DC on 26 April 2023. The MoU aims to strengthen the networks between administrations, companies, and research organizations, as well as enabling closer commercial and investment links between the two countries. The cooperation could focus on research, development, and innovation, projects, skills development, expertise and workforce, fuel supply, and public engagement in nuclear technology, clean energy, and placement of nuclear installations.
