During the first quarter of 2023, the number of employed people in Sweden increased by 111,000 compared to the same quarter the previous year. The total number of hours worked also increased by 6.2% on a calendar-adjusted basis. The unemployment rate was 7.8%, with 438,000 unemployed people. The employment rate among foreign-born people also increased, with a particularly significant decrease in the unemployment rate among foreign-born women. The number of people in the workforce aged 15-74 increased by 100,000, with a higher percentage of women (71.9%) in the workforce compared to men (76.8%).
