Sweden and South Korea are set to enhance their cooperation on new nuclear energy, according to a statement released after Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received South Korean Prime Minister Mr Han Duck-soo in Stockholm on 8 May. The two leaders discussed a range of topics including the security situation in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region, trade, investment, defence, and the green transition. They also discussed cooperation on new nuclear energy and SMRs, which South Korea is a leading manufacturer and exporter of. The Swedish government has announced plans to build new nuclear power plants to produce more clean electricity and speed up the green transition. The meeting was part of the Sweden + Korea Green Transition Alliance initiative.
