Germany’s manufacturing sector has seen a notable rise in employment, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). As of March 2023, approximately 5.6 million individuals were employed in manufacturing units with 50 or more personnel, marking a year-over-year increase of 1.6%, or 87,200 employees. This is the highest percentage increase since March 2019, when employment saw a jump of 1.6% or 91,200 individuals. The number of hours worked in March 2023 also increased by 2.8% from the previous year, reaching 766 million, with earnings amounting to 25.9 billion euros. Over the past year, earnings increased by 5.1% in comparison to the same period in the previous year. These figures indicate positive growth in Germany’s manufacturing sector and suggest that the industry is on an upward trajectory.
