Taiwan’s Manpower Survey Results for April 2023 Show Positive Employment Trends

The Department of Census, Directorate General of Budget Accounting & Statistics (DGBAS) has released the Manpower Survey Results for April 2023, revealing encouraging developments in the job market. The survey highlights a significant increase in total employment and a decline in the unemployment rate.

According to the latest data, total employment in Taiwan witnessed a rise of 12,000 individuals, amounting to 11,506,000 in April. This represents a growth rate of 0.10%. Moreover, when compared to the previous year, total employment saw an even more substantial increase of 91,000 individuals, reflecting a growth rate of 0.80%.

In parallel, the unemployment rate experienced a decline of 0.06 percentage points, reaching 3.50% in April. This decrease is indicative of improved job prospects in the country. Furthermore, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, which takes into account temporary fluctuations, also showed a decrease of 0.03 percentage points, falling to 3.56%.

The number of unemployed individuals in April stood at 417,000, signaling a decline of 7,000 individuals, equivalent to a decrease of 1.64% compared to the previous month. Moreover, this figure represents a substantial decrease of 12,000 individuals, indicating a decline of 2.72% compared to the same period last year. These figures demonstrate a positive trend, with fewer individuals facing unemployment.

Although the labor force participation rate experienced a marginal decline of 0.02 percentage points, settling at 59.18% in April, it still showed a slight increase of 0.02 percentage points compared to the previous year. This suggests that the labor force remains engaged and active in the job market.

The Manpower Survey Results for April 2023 reflect a favorable employment landscape in Taiwan, characterized by an increase in total employment and a decline in the unemployment rate.
