Investments Increase by SEK 7.3 Billion or 8% in the First Quarter of 2023, According to SCB

– Investments in several industries in Sweden have experienced significant growth in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year, according to the latest report from Statistics Sweden (SCB). The Investment Survey reveals that investments increased by SEK 7.3 billion, representing an 8% rise compared to the first quarter of 2022.

The construction industry saw the highest increase in investments, with a remarkable growth of 38% to reach SEK 2.9 billion. The banking and insurance sector also displayed robust investment activity, recording a 30% increase to reach SEK 5.7 billion.

Overall, corporate investments in Sweden amounted to SEK 95.4 billion during the first quarter of 2023, demonstrating an 8% rise compared to the same period in 2022.

The Investment Survey provides a breakdown of investments by industry groups in 2023 compared to 2022. The energy, water, and waste management sectors witnessed the most substantial increase in investments, with a rise of SEK 2.4 billion, bringing the total investments in the sector to SEK 11.3 billion in the first quarter of 2023. The transportation and storage industries followed closely behind, with investments increasing by 32% to reach SEK 5.8 billion. In contrast, the industrial sectors showed the lowest percentage increase, with investments rising by 4% to SEK 22.5 billion.

However, the real estate sector experienced a 9% decrease in investments, amounting to SEK 28.6 billion during the first quarter of 2023.

These investment trends indicate a positive outlook for the Swedish economy, reflecting growth and confidence in various sectors.
