Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with a delegation led by Co-Chairperson Katarina Barley of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) on June 5th at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The interparty exchange, regarded as a crucial component of Sino-German relations, holds significant implications for mutual learning, fostering prosperity, and development. China places high importance on its relationship with Germany and their cooperation. In a complex international landscape, as influential powers, China and Germany should uphold their cooperative aspirations, maintain strategic stability, enhance dialogue, and collaboration to inject more stability and certainty into the world. The Communist Party of China (CPC) is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the SPD, thereby helping to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Germany to new heights.
Premier Li Keqiang emphasized that the past few decades have witnessed fruitful economic and trade cooperation between China and Germany, not only promoting complementary advantages and common development but also delivering tangible benefits to both peoples. The CPC is willing to join forces with the SPD to safeguard the important foundation of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and better uphold the overall interests and benefits of both countries. China welcomes more German companies to share in the new opportunities of China’s development. Market access will continue to be expanded, intellectual property protection strengthened, and the implementation of national treatment for foreign-funded enterprises ensured, all aimed at creating a first-class market-oriented, rule-of-law-based, and international business environment. China is willing to work with Germany to maintain the stability of industrial and supply chains. It is hoped that the SPD will exert its significant influence in Germany and European political circles, maintain a rational and pragmatic policy towards China, and promote the smooth and healthy development of China-Germany and China-EU relations.
Co-Chairperson Katarina Barley conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from German Chancellor Scholz to Premier Li Keqiang. She stated that Germany is actively preparing for the seventh round of governmental consultations between Germany and China and looks forward to achieving fruitful results. The SPD has established relations with the CPC for nearly 40 years and has been committed to dialogue with China while actively promoting the development of German-China relations. Both sides share a common responsibility for the future of German-China relations. The German side appreciates China’s continued implementation of opening-up policies and believes that “decoupling” is not an option for German-China relations. The SPD is willing to strengthen strategic dialogue and communication with the CPC, further expand German-Chinese economic and trade cooperation, and make efforts for the sustained and stable development of German-China and EU-China relations.
