Netherlands: Export Sees Slight Contraction in April

The volume of goods exports in the Netherlands experienced a 0.5% decline in April compared to April 2022, as reported by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The decrease was primarily driven by reduced exports of chemical and metal products. However, exports of machinery and equipment, as well as transportation means (ships), saw an increase compared to the previous year. Conversely, the volume of goods imports in April 2023 recorded a growth of 5.5% compared to April 2022.

The CBS Export Radar indicates that the export conditions in June were less favorable than in April. This is attributed to various factors, including unfavorable currency exchange rates and negative assessments of foreign orders by Dutch and European industrial entrepreneurs, along with decreased producer confidence in Germany and Europe.
