Road Traffic Accidents in Norway: May 2023 Sees 13 Fatalities

In the latest update on road traffic accidents involving personal injury, it has been reported that Norway witnessed a total of 13 fatalities in May 2023. This data provides valuable insights into the current road safety situation in the country.

Breaking down the figures, it is revealed that 10 males and 3 females lost their lives in these tragic accidents during the month of May. This brings the total number of fatalities for the year to 116.

When considering severe injuries resulting from road accidents, the report shows that there were 578 cases in May 2023. Comparing this data with the average from the past five years, it is apparent that the number of severe injuries has decreased. The average number of severely injured individuals over the past five years stands at 588.

Analyzing the data based on different road user groups, it becomes evident that drivers of cars were the most affected, with 6 fatalities recorded in May. Passengers of cars accounted for 1 fatality, while drivers and passengers on motorcycles and mopeds experienced 3 fatalities. Additionally, 1 fatality was reported among cyclists, pedestrians, and individuals sledging. Two fatalities involved other road users.

Examining the age demographics of those involved in road traffic accidents, the report highlights that fatalities spanned various age groups. Among individuals aged 0-15 years, there was 1 fatality, while the age group of 16-24 years witnessed no fatalities during this period. The 25-44 age group experienced 2 fatalities, the 45-64 age group recorded 6 fatalities, and the 65 years or older age group accounted for 4 fatalities. There were no reported fatalities with unknown ages.
