Beijing, June 19 (Xinhua) – The 19th National Congress of the China Communist Youth League (CCYL) commenced at the Great Hall of the People on the morning of June 19. Chinese President Xi Jinping, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and other leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the country attended the event to extend their congratulations. Cai Qi, representing the CPC Central Committee, delivered a speech.
The opening ceremony took place in the grand hall of the Great Hall of the People, illuminated with dazzling lights and filled with a lively atmosphere. The emblem of the 19th National Congress of the China Communist Youth League hung above the stage, while the radiant emblem of the League shone in the center of the backdrop, with ten vibrant red flags adorning the sides. Banners on the second-floor balcony read, “Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, comprehensively implement the spirit of the 19th Party Congress, mobilize and lead the youth in the comprehensive construction of a socialist modern country, and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through unity and struggle!” Over 1,500 delegates from across the country, representing more than 73 million Communist Youth League members, attended the congress with great responsibility.
At 10:00 a.m., Chinese President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, entered the venue, receiving warm applause from the audience.
The presidium of the congress, including Xi Jinping, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, took their seats on the stage to congratulate the congress. The national anthem and the League anthem were sung while all attendees stood up.
Following the anthem, eight young pioneers delivered speeches, expressing their unwavering determination to listen to the Party and follow its guidance, as well as their aspirations to become outstanding young people who contribute to the Party and the country.
Cai Qi delivered a speech titled “Writing a Magnificent Chapter of Youth in the New Journey of National Rejuvenation during the Construction of a Powerful Nation.” He warmly congratulated the congress and extended sincere greetings to young people of all ethnic groups, all Communist Youth League members, and youth workers across the country.
In his speech, Cai Qi emphasized that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Youth League, the League has adhered to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, earnestly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important ideas on youth work, and continuously strengthened the political, advanced, and mass nature of the League. The guiding power, organizational capacity, and service capacity of the League have all been enhanced. The vast number of League members and young people have responded to the Party and the people’s call, sounding the clarion call of “clear love, solely for China” with the passion of their youth and fulfilling their resolute oath of “please rest assured, the nation has us” through their actions.
Cai Qi stated that Chinese youth and the youth movement have always manifested the mission of youth by shouldering the mission of the times and promoting social progress while achieving their own progress. Building a socialist modernized strong country in an all-around way and realizing the second centenary goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation are the central tasks of the Party and also the defining themes of the youth movement and youth work in the new era. The broad youth should firmly remember General Secretary Xi Jinping’s earnest teachings on youth work, take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as a guide, be loyal to the Party, and contribute to the cause of the Party and the people in the new journey of national rejuvenation.
Cai Qi stressed that in the new journey of national rejuvenation during the construction of a powerful nation, it is necessary to unswervingly adhere to and improve the Party’s overall leadership over youth work. Party committees at all levels should strengthen leadership and guidance over youth work and build a broad and strong network of youth organizations under the leadership of the Party. It is necessary to adhere to the direction of serving the youth, firmly establish the concept of “serving the youth as the starting point and foothold,” and focus on the fundamental tasks of educating, organizing, serving, and guiding the vast number of young people. We must adhere to and strengthen ideological and political guidance, provide sound organizational guarantees, and create a more favorable environment for youth growth. We must fully mobilize the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of young people, unite and guide the broad youth to make greater contributions to realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The congress will continue its work until June 22, during which participants will hear and discuss the work report of the 18th Central Committee of the China Communist Youth League, review and approve the amendments to the CCYL’s Constitution, elect the 19th Central Committee and its Standing Committee, and discuss other relevant matters.
