Prime Minister Petteri Orpo Forms New Government in Finland

On Tuesday, Finland’s President appointed the country’s 77th Government, led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. This development comes as Prime Minister Marin’s Government members were released from their duties. The newly formed government, headed by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, comprises 19 ministers representing various political parties.

The National Coalition Party holds eight ministerial positions, the Finns Party has seven ministers, the Swedish People’s Party has two and a half ministers, and the Christian Democrats have one and a half ministers.

During its first plenary session, the Orpo Government made important decisions regarding ministerial responsibilities, the formation of ministerial committees and working groups, and the appointment of deputies for the ministers. Additionally, the Government presented its program to Parliament as a statement.

Minister of Finance Riikka Purra has been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister. Thirteen ministers took an oath of office and a judicial oath at the beginning of the session, while one minister made an equivalent affirmation.
