In metropolitan France, housing prices experienced a decline of 0.2% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter, according to seasonally adjusted data. This follows a period of overall stability in the fourth quarter of 2022. The downward trend continues for both new (-0.2% compared to the previous quarter, following a 0.2% decrease) and existing homes (-0.2% after remaining stable in the previous quarter).
On an annual basis, housing prices have notably slowed down, with a 2.9% increase in the first quarter of 2023 compared to a 4.9% increase in the previous quarter. Existing homes saw a weaker growth rate of 2.7% compared to the 4.4% growth rate of new homes, marking the third consecutive quarter of such divergence.
These findings are based on the Housing Price Index (base year 2015), which provides insights into the fluctuations of housing prices in France. The data reveals a slight decrease in housing prices, reflecting the current market conditions.
