1.5 Million NOK Allocated to Restructuring in Agder, Norway

Agder County Council receives 1.5 million NOK to initiate a restructuring program in the region. “This government is committed to creating optimism and confidence in the future throughout Norway. We want to facilitate growth and development in rural communities,” says Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Sigbjørn Gjelsvik.

From time to time, situations arise that particularly impact a municipality or a labor market region. When municipalities or regions experience sudden or significant declines in employment, they can receive assistance for restructuring from the state and the county municipality.

In their annual submission to the ministry, Agder County Council highlighted that Bygland municipality, among others, has experienced a significant decline in employment over time. The county council has also emphasized the need for additional efforts in restructuring the municipality.

“I am aware that many municipalities, including Bygland, have faced challenges over time. In the revised national budget, Agder County Council will, therefore, receive 1.5 million NOK, allowing them to launch their restructuring program as soon as possible,” adds Gjelsvik.
