Norway has seen a notable increase in its refugee population, accounting for 5.1% of the total inhabitants as of January 2023. According to recent data, there are 280,018 individuals with a refugee background in the country.
Among them, 211,667 are classified as main refugees, signifying a 19.4% increase from the previous year. Asylum cases, on the other hand, have remained stable at 114,864 people.
Resettlement of refugees, which involves relocating them to Norway from their current location, has contributed to 48,388 individuals in the country. Interestingly, there has been a significant rise of 328.7% in “Other Refugees” category, totaling 40,484 individuals.
In terms of specific circumstances surrounding flight, 7,931 individuals fall under the “Unspecified Flight” category. Family-related admissions to Norway have reached 68,351 individuals, showing a moderate 1.5% increase.
