Michele Bullock has been appointed as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia by Treasurer Jim Chalmers. Bullock, who will assume the role on September 18, 2023, has been praised by current Governor Philip Lowe for the appointment. As Governor, Bullock will oversee the Reserve Bank’s operations, including chairing key boards and managing the bank under the Reserve Bank Act 1959. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to fulfill the bank’s objectives for the benefit of the Australian people. Lowe will continue in his position until September 17, 2023, and the appointment of the new Deputy Governor will be announced later.
