Swedish Gunnar Strömmer and Maria Malmer Stenergard Travel to Spain for an Informal RIF Meeting

On July 20-21, Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer and Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard will participate in an informal ministerial meeting on justice and home affairs (RIF) in Spain. The meeting marks the first ministerial-level gathering on RIF issues during Spain’s presidency.

On June 30, Sweden handed over the presidency baton of the Council of the European Union after six months in office. Spain assumed the presidency on July 1, taking the lead in organizing this informal ministerial meeting on justice and home affairs (RIF).

EU justice and home affairs ministers will convene in the city of Logroño. The agenda for the meeting includes discussions on combating organized crime, the situation in Ukraine, law enforcement agencies’ access to information, and how the EU can work to prevent and address large migration flows. For more information and any interview requests, please contact the respective press secretaries.
