U.S. Department of the Treasury Announces Financial Stability Oversight Council Meeting

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has scheduled a meeting of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (Council) on July 28, 2023. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will preside over the meeting, which will take place at the Treasury Department. The Council’s meeting will be divided into two sessions, an executive session, and a public session.

The executive session’s preliminary agenda includes important updates on the Council’s Nonbank Mortgage Servicing Task Force, the Council’s Climate-related Financial Risk Committee, and developments in the banking sector. These updates are expected to provide insight into ongoing efforts and initiatives aimed at ensuring financial stability and addressing potential risks in the financial system.

In the public session, the Council will present additional updates on its Climate-related Financial Risk Committee and provide information on the transition from LIBOR, an important reference rate used in financial markets.

The Financial Stability Oversight Council comprises various members who play essential roles in overseeing and maintaining the stability of the nation’s financial system.
