Gasoline and diesel prices in Finland have shown minor fluctuations in the early months of 2023, according to data released by the Finnish Energy Regulatory Authority. The variations come amidst global energy market dynamics and regional factors that continue to impact fuel costs in the country.
In February 2023, the average price for one liter of kevyt polttoöljy (light fuel oil) remained stable at 1.45 Euros. However, diesel prices saw a slight increase to 2.07 Euros per liter, while bensiini 95 E 10 (95-octane petrol with 10% ethanol) also experienced an uptick, reaching 1.99 Euros per liter. Bensiini 98 E 5 (98-octane petrol with 5% ethanol) followed a similar trajectory, hitting 2.08 Euros per liter.
March 2023 witnessed a stable price of 1.45 Euros per liter for kevyt polttoöljy, while diesel prices saw a slight decrease to 2.02 Euros per liter. Bensiini 95 E 10 and Bensiini 98 E 5 followed suit, experiencing a marginal dip to 1.98 Euros and 2.08 Euros per liter, respectively.
The trend continued into April 2023, with kevyt polttoöljy prices slightly decreasing to 1.40 Euros per liter. Diesel and Bensiini 95 E 10 both saw a minor decline to 1.96 Euros and 2.00 Euros per liter, respectively. Conversely, Bensiini 98 E 5 prices remained stable at 2.09 Euros per liter.
As spring progressed, the data for May and June 2023 showed relatively steady prices for kevyt polttoöljy and diesel, with both fuels fluctuating around 1.28 – 1.35 Euros and 1.86 – 1.85 Euros per liter, respectively. Bensiini 95 E 10 and Bensiini 98 E 5 experienced slight variations within the range of 1.94 – 1.98 Euros and 2.04 – 2.07 Euros per liter, respectively.
Market analysts attribute the minor fluctuations in Finnish gas prices to regional supply-demand dynamics and the ongoing shifts in global energy prices. Geopolitical factors and changes in crude oil prices have also played a role in influencing fuel costs in the country.
