Investment pace among companies in Sweden rose during the second quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter. In total, corporate investments amounted to 106.8 billion SEK during this period.
Results from the Investment Survey reveal that company investments increased by a total of 12 percent, equivalent to 11.1 billion SEK, during the second quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter. Most industry groups witnessed an increase in investments between the two quarters. Energy industry marked the highest growth with a surge of 37 percent, reaching an investment level of 15.6 billion SEK. The real estate sector saw a 19 percent increase in investments, reaching 32.7 billion SEK. On the other hand, the retail sector experienced a decline of 12 percent compared to the first quarter of 2023.

Company investments remained at the same level when comparing the second quarters of 2023 and 2022, with a minor increase of 2 percent. Banks and insurance companies experienced the most substantial growth with a surge of 44 percent, reaching an investment level of 5.9 billion SEK. The business services industry increased its investments by 28 percent, reaching 7.1 billion SEK. However, some industries decreased their investments during the second quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. The retail sector decreased investments by 12 percent, while the real estate sector reduced investments by 11 percent, reaching an investment level of 32.7 billion SEK.
