Spain’s high-tech and medium-high-tech businesses experienced remarkable growth in 2021, according to the latest data.

The total turnover of high and medium-high technology companies surged by 8.8%, reaching an impressive 285,935.7 million euros. This economic expansion is particularly noteworthy in the context of the global technology sector.

  • Total Business Turnover: High and medium-high technology sectors, along with high-tech services, generated a combined turnover of 285,936 million euros.
  • Employment Growth: The number of people employed in high-tech companies increased by 6.8%, totaling 1,499,000 individuals.
  • Research and Development Investment: High-tech companies invested significantly in research and development, with a total expenditure of 6,702 million euros.
  • Production of High-Tech Goods: The value of high-tech goods produced in Spain reached 11,365 million euros, reflecting a growth rate of 13.3%.
  • Exports and Imports: Spain’s exports of high-tech products soared by an impressive 39.6%, reaching 22,360 million euros. Imports also saw substantial growth, rising by 28.6% to reach 38,688 million euros.
