Italy: European Cyber Security Month Calls for Contributions on Social Engineering

The countdown to the European Cyber Security Month (ECSM) has begun, with less than a month remaining until the start of a month-long series of cybersecurity awareness initiatives throughout October 2023. All EU member states will actively participate in this coordinated campaign to raise awareness about cybersecurity.

To bolster the ECSM’s message and enrich it with contributions from all quarters, the organization has issued an invitation to share ideas, suggestions, and experiences related to social engineering. Whether it’s a story, an infographic, a video, or a simple piece of advice, individuals can participate by creating content on Social Engineering and sharing it on social media using the hashtags #OpenECSM and #CyberSecMonth.

Each week, ECSM will select noteworthy contributions to promote through its official social media channels.

Awareness is the first line of defense, and by sharing knowledge about social engineering, individuals can contribute to creating a safer digital world for everyone.

Since 2023, the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) has served as the national coordinator for the European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM), the principal cybersecurity awareness project.

This initiative, launched at the European level in 2013, entails the cooperation of EU Member States, the European Commission, and ENISA in designing and implementing coordinated annual campaigns aimed at increasing awareness among European citizens and organizations about the risks associated with technology use and promoting good cyber hygiene practices.
