Key Highlights:

  1. Employment Rate (Ages 15-64, OECD Comparison):
    • The employment rate stands at 69.6%, a 0.7 percentage point increase from the same period last year.
  2. Unemployment Rate:
    • The unemployment rate is recorded at 2.3%, showing a 0.1 percentage point decrease from the previous year.
    • The number of unemployed individuals is 661,000, marking a 6.0% decrease compared to the same period last year.
    • Youth unemployment (ages 15-29) stands at 5.2%, experiencing a notable decrease of 0.9 percentage points from the previous year.
    • Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 2.6%, showing a 0.2 percentage point increase from the previous month.
  3. Employment Growth:
    • In September 2023, the total number of employed individuals is 28,698,000, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 309,000 (1.1%).
