In the third quarter of 2023, France experienced significant growth in salaried employment across various sectors, according to recent data. Here are the key highlights:

  • Agriculture:
    • Slight decline of 3,000 jobs in the quarter.
    • Positive annual growth of 7.6%.
    • Total salaried employment in agriculture stands at 309,400.
  • Industry:
    • Notable increase of 11,900 jobs in Q3.
    • Strong annual growth of 34%.
    • Salaried employment in the industry sector reached 3,263,900, with manufacturing contributing significantly at 2,857,000.
  • Construction:
    • Experienced a decrease of 5,500 jobs in the quarter.
    • Annual decline of 7.3%.
    • Total salaried employment in construction is 1,588,700.
  • Trade and Services:
    • Impressive growth of 17,400 jobs in Q3.
    • Remarkable annual growth of 129.8%.
    • Total salaried employment in trade and services reached 13,413,600. Temporary work, however, saw a decrease of 16.3% in the quarter.
  • Non-Market Services:
    • Added 15,800 jobs in the quarter.
    • Annual growth of 43%.
    • Total salaried employment in non-market services is 8,463,100.
  • Total Employment:
    • France witnessed an overall growth of 36,700 jobs in Q3.

    • The total salaried employment in the country reached 27,038,600. In the private sector, there was an increase of 30,700 jobs, while the public sector grew by 6,000 jobs.
