Nottingham Trent University academics visited Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, from 9 to 15 November 2025 to support the British Council’s Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. The visit was part of a partnership with the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages (TNIWL) to embed inclusive teaching methods into the Pre‑Service English Teacher Training (PRESETT) curriculum. During the trip, the team observed teaching in two secondary schools, delivered workshops for teacher trainers, students and alumni, and reviewed current curriculum materials with TNIWL colleagues. The collaboration also plans a March 2026 symposium on inclusive English language teaching, and earlier this year 14 TNIWL teachers passed the Cambridge English Teaching Knowledge Test. The project reflects the UK’s commitment to international academic exchange and inclusive education.
