SCB reports negative loan growth for residential property firms in September 2025

Statistiska centralbyrån (SCB) reported that the annual growth rate of loans to the three largest sectors fell in September 2025 compared with August. The rate for residential property firms was –0.8 percent, down from –0.2 percent in August. The rate for office property firms recorded a 5.5 percent increase, lower than 5.9 percent in the previous month, while housing‑association loans grew 0.1 percent versus 0.2 percent in August. In September, residential properties accounted for 24.3 percent of total loan volume, followed by office properties at 23.0 percent and housing associations at 19.7 percent. Interest rates for each sector were unchanged or slightly lower than in August, with the highest rate in the information‑and‑communication sector at 4.47 percent and the lowest in housing associations and energy & water at 2.91 percent.
