EEA Launches 2025 Environment Report in Podgorica, Celebrating Two Decades of Western Balkan Partnership

Europe’s Environment Agency (EEA) officially launched its 2025 environmental report in Podgorica, Montenegro, marking over twenty years of partnership with the six Western Balkan countries. The event brought together EEA Executive Director Leena Ylä‑Mononen and senior environmental officials from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. The report, co‑created with the countries and 32 EEA member states, includes country profiles that show progress in environment, climate and sustainability, including expanded protected area networks. The launch, hosted by the EEA and Montenegro’s Environmental Protection Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development, also acknowledged the region’s growing contribution to European environmental data and cooperation. Keynote speeches were delivered by Montenegro’s Minister of Ecology Damjan Ćulafić, EEA director Ylä‑Mononen and Environmental Protection Agency director Milan Gazdić.
