On 27–28 November 2025, the French Ministry of Armed Forces and Veterans awarded the Defence Innovators Trophy and Exceptional Awards at the fifth Defence Innovation Forum. The trophy, launched in 2021 and organized biennially by the Agency for Defence Innovation, honours civilian and military innovators who deliver decisive gains. The 2025 edition highlighted four themes: Air‑Ground Operations, Maritime Operations, Air and Space Operations, and ‘Do Differently’. From 1 April to 30 May, 61 applications were received and each ministry entity pre‑selected 14 proposals. Evaluation considered relevance, technical maturity, operational benefit, scalability, technological breakthrough, and innovator involvement. Winners were PROTEUS (Air‑Ground), PMS (Maritime), KLIDE (Air and Space), and KRYPTOJAM (Do Differently). Minister Catherine Vautrin awarded two exceptional prizes. On 28 November, a jury proposed that the Minister may award an exceptional reward to an innovator or group who completed the TARS project—a satellite debris tableau and the NEXUS project—a unlimited RH generator.
