U‑Space Partners with MaiaSpace for 2027 TOUTATIS Satellite Launch

U‑Space has chosen MaiaSpace to launch the TOUTATIS mission, a demonstration of two low‑Earth orbit microsatellites for the Agence de l’Innovation de Défense and the Commandement de l’Espace. The partnership combines U‑Space’s microsatellite manufacturing with MaiaSpace’s launch services, supporting the ARES strategy overseen by the Direction Générale de l’Arme. The program will deploy two 200‑kg satellites on a Maia launch vehicle in 2027 into a heliosynchronous orbit. The mission will demonstrate integrated surveillance (Lisa‑1) and active response (Splinter) capabilities, completing acquisition, decision, and reaction in low Earth orbit. Selecting MaiaSpace supports sovereign European microsatellite launch capability and strengthens French and European space defense resilience, in line with France’s 2025‑2040 national space strategy.
