On 27 November, the Social Situation Monitor (SSM) hosted an in‑person research seminar on social resilience in Brussels. Thirty‑six participants, including SSM staff, academics, PhD students, and representatives from the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL), the European Commission’s Economic and Financial Affairs unit (ECFIN) and the SG REFORM project, attended. The event was opened by DG EMPL’s Head of Unit F4, Elva Bova, and SSM Project Director Alex Stimpson. Keynote speaker Ive Marx of the University of Antwerp was followed by two round‑table sessions featuring seven experts from the OECD, European universities and the Joint Research Centre. Highlights included Europe’s long‑term gains in employment, the multi‑dimensional nature of resilience, and the importance of quality jobs and robust social safety nets.
