Spain’s GECCO 2025 Program Reaches Record 25,767 Migrant Workers

Spain’s Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migraciones announced that the 2025 GECCO programme facilitated work for 25,767 migrant workers, a 25% rise from 20,000 in 2024. Participants came from 17 countries, including Morocco, Colombia and Honduras, and were employed in 21 Spanish provinces. Morocco contributed 81% of hires, mostly women (92%) with an average age of 43, and the main sector was agriculture. The Ministry also confirmed the launch of WAFIRA II, a regional circular migration project that will support 3,000 seasonal Moroccan workers in Spain and France over 40 months, with additional cooperation from Portugal, Mauritania and Cabo Verde. A new GECCO Order for 2026 is in draft.
