MCA Launches Compliance Exercise for UK Ports and Marine Facilities

On 1 January 2026, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) began a compliance exercise inviting all ports and marine facilities in the United Kingdom to demonstrate alignment with the Ports and Marine Facilities Safety Code (PMSC). The PMSC provides a framework for safe and efficient operations, covering large commercial ports, local harbours, leisure harbours and small marinas. While participation is not a legal requirement, it allows facilities to show professionalism, accountability and a commitment to reducing risk. Facilities that comply will build trust with shipping companies, regulators and local communities, and help raise standards across the sector. The invitation will be available on GOV.UK until 31 March 2026.
