Sellafield Ltd employee Gary McKee has been awarded an MBE in the King’s 2026 New Year Honours List for services to charity and the community in Cleator Moor, West Cumbria. McKee, known locally as ‘Marathon Man’, has spent more than 20 years fundraising for charities in the area, completing 365 marathons in 365 days and raising over £2 million for local causes. He said the award was “humbling” and thanked family and supporters for their help. Sellafield COO Roddy Miller praised McKee’s determination and community impact.
