Spain’s Social Security system recorded its fourth consecutive year of more than half a million new affiliates, reaching 21.87 million in 2025 – the highest level in the historical series. In December alone, 19,180 new affiliates were registered, bringing the monthly total to 21,844,414. The year‑on‑year growth was 2.4 %. Ninety‑percent of all affiliates hold permanent contracts, a rise from the pre‑reform level of 30 % temporary contracts. Women’s employment increased by 13.4 % since the reform, while foreign workers account for 14.1 % of the total. Growth was strongest in high‑value added sectors such as information and communication, and in construction. The labour market remains the fastest growing in Europe, surpassing Italy, France and Germany.
