Education Record app to give Year 11 students online GCSE results

Government launches the Education Record app to let every Year 11 student in England access their GCSE results on a mobile device from summer 2026. The app is being rolled out nationwide after pilots in Greater Manchester and West Midlands. Pupils will receive results in school on results day, after which they will appear on the app. Schools and colleges can use the app to identify students who need additional support, such as ongoing English and maths GCSEs, SEND provisions or free school meal eligibility. The Department estimates the rollout could save up to £30 million per year in administrative costs, which could be redirected to teaching budgets. The app will later link with the GOV UK Wallet to store a range of credentials.
