SIA Marks One-Year Anniversary of Martyn’s Law

On 3 April 2026, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) celebrated the first anniversary of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law. The Act recognises the importance of premises and events in deterring and responding to terrorism. The SIA, now the official regulator, thanked Figen Murray OBE for her campaigning that led to the law. Over the past year the SIA has worked with the Home Office and other partners to lay the groundwork for a credible regulatory framework. In the coming year the agency will publish statutory guidance, launch an online notification portal for premises and events, and recruit staff under Executive Director Laura Gibb. The SIA remains committed to improving safety at public venues across the UK.
