Italy Sees Decline in Poverty Risk, Family Income Grows in 2025

Italy’s national statistics agency released data for 2024‑2025 showing modest improvement in household economic conditions. The share of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion fell to 22.6 % in 2025 from 23.1 % in 2024, a total of about 13.3 million. Average annual family income rose nominally by 5.3 % and real terms by 4.1 %, reaching €39,501. The income gap narrowed, with the top 20 % earning 5.1 times the bottom 20 % compared with 5.5 in 2023.
