ICE Requests Texas Authorities Not to Release Mexican National Charged with Homicide

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has requested Texas authorities not to release Francisco Mendez Marin, a 24‑year‑old Mexican national. Mendez Marin was arrested by Carrollton Police on March 18 in Dallas, Texas, and is charged with homicide after allegedly slitting the throat of his 20‑year‑old wife, Karla Rangel, less than a month after their marriage. Officers found him with blood on his clothes and a bloody pocketknife. ICE filed a detainer for the suspect, and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has placed him in custody at Dallas County Jail. The request is part of ICE’s effort to keep the individual from being released into the community.
