SIA Prepares Draft Section 12 Guidance for Martyn’s Law Consultation

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) marks the first anniversary of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 and highlights progress on Martyn’s Law. It pays tribute to Figen Murray OBE for her role in initiating the legislation and continuing advocacy. The SIA is finalising a draft Section 12 statutory guidance that will explain its new enforcement and investigation powers, a risk‑based approach, how it will use information, non‑compliance measures, penalty setting and information disclosure. The draft will be published with the Home Office’s Section 27 guidance and opened for public consultation for at least eight weeks. The SIA also plans a secure digital notification platform, inviting volunteers to beta‑test, and encourages stakeholders to provide feedback during the consultation period.
