EU to Commit €700m to Global Fund and €46.5m for One Health Initiatives

On April 7, 2026, the European Commission announced a €700 million pledge to the Global Fund’s 8th replenishment for HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, with €185 million immediately available. It also committed €46.5 million to strengthen One Health cooperation between Africa and Europe, targeting antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, laboratory capacity and cross‑regional collaboration over five years. In addition, €50 million will fund research and development for AMR and neglected tropical diseases: €30 million to support new antibiotics through CARB‑X and GARDP, and €20 million to advance dengue treatments via the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative. These measures are part of the Global Health Resilience Initiative launched by the EU.
