March 2026 Sees 10% Rise in New Passenger Car Registrations in Finland

Finland’s Ministry of Transport reported that 6,791 new passenger cars were registered in March 2026, a 10 percent increase over the same month last year. In the first quarter of 2026, 17,202 passenger cars were registered, up 3 percent from the first quarter of 2025. Full‑electric vehicles accounted for 50 percent of March registrations, with 3,369 new electric cars—a 38 percent jump year‑on‑year. Gasoline cars rose to 2,304 units, an increase over the prior year. Plug‑in hybrids made up 13 percent of March registrations, bringing the total of 4,266 plug‑in vehicles to 17 percent higher than in 2025. Electric registrations were strongest in Uusimaa, where 51 percent of new electric cars appeared. Business owners accounted for 2,980 passenger car registrations, or 44 percent of all passenger cars that month.
