U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in the Laredo Field Office area apprehended five individuals wanted for felony charges during a five‑day span from March 27 to March 31, 2026. On March 27 at the Colombia‑Solidarity Bridge, CBP detained Victoria Fernandez Lopez, a Mexican citizen, who had an active felony warrant for indecency with a child issued by Burleson Police. On March 29 at the Gateway Bridge, CBP turned over Jose Arturo Alfaro Acuna, a Mexican citizen, on a homicide and abuse of office warrant to Mexican authorities. The same day, Efren Gonzalez Dominguez, a U.S. citizen, was handed to Maverick County deputies on a sexual assault warrant. On March 31, CBP took Epifanio Benitez, a citizen, to Webb County jail on a sexual assault of a child warrant issued by Dallas County, and transferred Joel Herrera, a citizen, to Hidalgo County deputies on a similar warrant. Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said the actions demonstrate CBP’s role in securing the border.
