Molise Landslide Blocks Major Transport Routes, President Meloni Coordinates Response

On 7 April 2026 a long‑standing landslide in Molise was reactivated, dividing the region and blocking the A14 motorway, State Road 16 and the adjacent railway line. President Giorgia Meloni has maintained continuous contact with relevant ministers, including Infrastructure and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini and Civil Protection Minister Nello Musumeci, as well as Civil Protection head Fabio Ciciliano and Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano. The Civil Protection Department convened its Operational Committee in permanent session to manage the emergency phase, focusing on the reception and support of evacuated residents and on defining actions to keep transport links open until infrastructure can be restored. Because the landslide remains active, repair plans will be assessed only after technical inspections are completed.
