Germany’s GDP grows 0.3 % in Q1 2026

Germany’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.3 % in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the fourth quarter of 2025, after adjustment for price, seasonal and calendar effects, according to a press release from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The same quarter’s growth was 0.5 % on a price‑adjusted basis when measured against the first quarter of 2025. Destatis also noted that household and government final consumption expenditure were higher than in the previous quarter, and exports rose. The office revised the fourth‑quarter 2025 figure downward by 0.1 percentage point. Finalised results for the first quarter will be released on 22 May 2026.
