Health Monitor reveals large disparities among Dutch adults

A new report from the Health Monitor Adults and Seniors 2024 shows large health differences between adult groups in the Netherlands. Nearly three‑quarters of adults belong to a group where more than nine out of ten people report their health as (very) good. In groups with a less favorable health profile, only one in ten does so. The findings highlight which groups need extra attention and suggest factors that could improve health, such as financial hardship, lack of social support, limited work or education participation, and the physical living environment. The study was conducted by the RIVM, CBS, GGD Utrecht, and GGD GHOR, with almost half a million respondents completing a questionnaire on health, well‑being, lifestyle and environment. The results form part of the Integrated Health Monitor COVID‑19, supporting policy development.
