Italy’s Q1 2026 GDP Grows 0.2% from Previous Quarter, 0.7% Trend

Statistical office ISTAT released a preliminary estimate of Italy’s gross domestic product for the first quarter of 2026. The data show a 0.2 percent rise from the previous quarter and a 0.7 percent rise in trend terms. The quarter had one fewer working day than the previous quarter, but the same number of days as the first quarter of 2025. Growth was driven by an increase in the services sector’s value added, while agriculture and industry fell. On the demand side, the national component (gross of stocks) contributed negatively, whereas the net foreign component added positively. The annualised growth rate for 2026 is 0.5 percent.
